Traffic cone promoted to 1st Sgt
By As For Class
FORT BRAGG, N.C.—A traffic cone has just come down on the first sergeant list to uproarious applause.
“He’s the most consistent leader we’ve got,” said Col. Adam Cobb, chief of staff for the 82nd Airborne Division.
Duffel Blog reporters were given unprecedented access to the new first sergeant, his career, and the reasons why his actions have been praised by Maj. Gen. Christopher C. LaNeve, the commander of the 82nd Airborne.
We began the day early and in a pool, where the first sergeant led combat water survival training.
Reportedly always one to lead from the front, the traffic cone was the first in the water and an added stressor, as his subordinates were ordered to not allow the first sergeant to drown.
From there, we began a road march, during which we were informed that the traffic cone once led a 15-mile movement in a combat zone.
